Чрез жизнената драма на френската аристократка албигойка Женевиев дьо Монгри и българския Богомил Слав граматик, които пренася от България до Южна Франция тайната богомилска книга. Чрез противопоставяне на позиции на герои, на възвишено и низко, прогресивно и исторически обречено писателят създава широка панорама на живота от оная епоха.
